The rooms with a spectacular view of the Ticino mountains were disappointing; they have lost all their beauty and romance. However, they were made up perfectly each afternoon. The service was so friendly and helpful, it almost felt like staying with friends. The location is a bit out of the way but suited us. The dining experience was fantastic, while the facilities were top-notch.

My stay at the hotel was a mix of great and not-so-great experiences. The setting of the hotel was fantastic, with a beautiful bathroom and a large outdoor private garden; however, the room was small, without windows, and faced directly into the building's toilet windows. The service was unfailingly courteous, but there were some language barriers for non-German speakers. The location, while a bit out of the way in an area without sea views, suited me well for biking to the film festival in Locarno. The dining experience was fantastic with the best Swiss breakfast I've ever had, but nibbles were lacking. The facilities were good overall.
